How Long Does Wow Take To Download

How long does wow take to download for computer

Best Answer: It's just your download speed. It's quite a large trail so it does take a while on a slower connection, there's nothing weird about that. Download speeds can fluctuate depending on how many people are using your internet connection or if the servers are just generally having a bad day. It takes awhile. When I downloaded all of the expansions and all the patches it took me about 3 hours. But that's all together. I think it takes like a half hour last time I checked. I haven't played in a while and I'm getting a new computer here soon so it's probably going to take a really long time. Author: wowketodiet. How long does it take for a world of warcraft patch update to download?

I was wondering if anyone else out there is having problems with the WoW installer, I recently signed up for an account so I could take advantage of this play the first 20 levels for free promotion.

I've registered fine but I now have the downloader client up and it just doesn't seem to want to download the files (and when it does we are talking speeds between 5-15kb/s). I've got a decent 10MB connection from Virgin media and all other net related activity flies by so i very much doubt its that; I've also DMZ'd myself on my router to help with any connection problems that might be occurring. Finally i've also tried adding the TCP and UDP exceptions to my firewall to allow the downloader through Windows firewall.

Does anyone have any ideas as i'm completely stumped?

Have you tried disabling peer to peer download? By default, the blizzard downloader use p2p to accelerate the download, but your ISP may be throttling p2p transfer. To disable it, in the blizzard downloader, go to the View --> Preference menu and uncheck the box 'Enable peer to peer'.

The Blizzard downloader is a BitTorrent client; unfortunately, Virgin Media appear to block BitTorrent traffic. If switching Peer-to-Peer Download off doesn't work, you can try downloading from an external mirror; Blizzard have a list of sites likely to host the game files here. You'll probably also need to do this every time a new patch is released.

I've have sometimes had this problem before where the download just stops or is just crawling. My best solution is to restart the client. Otherwise try looking at Blizzards troubleshooting forums http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/874936/

What does the download report as a warning/error? If there is something it would report it to you.

Try to look for an alternative way to get the download; if not, get a friend to get you the cached files.

This will probably not work for everyone but it worked for me so it might help you if your wow launcher isn't downloading the patch or if it's extremely slow to download it (like 1k every 5 mins)

Also note that this is with Windows 7 Premium

  • Open Internet Explorer
  • click Tools
  • Internet options
  • click the Connections tab
  • Click Lan settings
  • Uncheck the 'Automatically detect settings'
  • click ok
  • click ok again then close Internet Explorer and try to open the wow launcher again
Long

after that my download was going at 1.6 - 1.8 Mb/sec :)

Also remember to go check the 'Automatically detect settings' box again after your done, apparently it might cause problem later with your internet if you leave it unchecked (that 's what someone told me)

Hope it help ;)

Go into 'Options' and select 'Patch & Update Settings' and scroll down to hidden fields. Select 0 kb/s for both up and down stream which means unlimited transfer rates. The default setting for background and beta streaming is 100 kb/s. After I did this it jumped to 15+ Mb/S and downloaded in half an hour.

How Long Does Wow Take To Download For Windows 10

  • I bought eso for the Xbox one on Amazon and I was just wondering how long will it take to install?

    Loading editor
    • Unfortunately, no one can be told what the install time is... you have to see it for yourself. But i can tell you the game is huge so probably a quite a while the Online section doesn't get much traffic i'm afraid so you might not get a answer from someone who actually knows.

    • I'm pretty sure it would depend on your internet connection.

    • Will it take less time if I put my Xbox one offline while installing it?

    • with 1 Mb/s net it'll take like 12 hours if you download it from steam, since the game weighs 48 GB plus the patches (20 GB) oh and then you have to worry if it even works or not, because 50% people who bought it cant even play it because it crashes every 5 minutes and is unplayable or you got lucky and works just fine.

      Loading editor
    • i downloaded it off steam. It took about 8 hours to download off steam, then once i opened the game, it had a loading screen that took about 8 hours to finish!

    • Probably setting up your spot on the sever as it's the first time, if a lot of people are doing the same and it's busy it may take longer but just a guess. I remember the first time into the game i was beginning to wonder if it had crashed, but it was only about fifteen minutes maybe some thing like that.

    • Everyone gets slightly different downloading speeds. I know that for example ESO took about a good 5 hours or so to download on my laptop. However, some people have higher/lower internet speeds -- Not to mention I have no clue how long the download is after The Elder Scrolls Online: Thieves Guild came out. According to Steam[1], the game requires 85 Gb of storage, although most of this is likely just extra space to 'keep on the safe side.'

The percents seem to lie, in the sense that they're presumed to be overall download while instead it's pretty shooty. Also, if I remembered correctly, it goes up to 100% numerous times.

Someone correct me if Im wrong about that fact, quite sure it's true but it has been a while now since I downloaded.

    • Took hours on my XBox One, can't recall how long exactly though not as long as Halo 5 if that's any indication! :-D (I put the latter disc in at 4.30 after getting home from work, and started playing just before midnight!) - of course my wayward rural broadband may have something to do with it. It'll also say it's ready to start on the XBox dashboard, then when you load it you'll get an 'updating' message within the game itself - that's the stage that takes a long time, so I'd suggest popping down the pub at that point....

it sounds like you have pretty good internet so I would say 3 hours at the least 2

It all depends on your download speed. For me, It's 50 MPBS. So mine downloaded in about 2 hours, GTA V, much smaller, downloaded in about 1 hour.

Omg tell me its just veryyy long and not bugged. I download at 5 mb per sec

    • Yeah, the download is likely just huge. I started yesterday (had issues with updating, had to reinstall from the start) and after a ton of errors I finished it about 24 hours later. Depending on your connection, it can take forever. I had the digits to break too (The % would go up, download left wouldn't budge) so it could just be that.

      - I bought it on pstore and it downloaded in like maybe 3-4 hours

Sadly, no. Like I said, it all depends on your download speed. If you have any digital games, or if you ordered ESO on digital, you can play other games to make it feel quicker.Sorry that this is the only suggestion I have.

the quickest time i know of is 9 hours and 45 minutes it took me and my friends each 12 hours or more to download it and by the way if your internet is that slow that its taking you over 4 days then you shouldnt download it you will probably lag if you play or disconect really often thats what happened to me when they added the first dlc and updated the graphics my pc couldnt run it anymore so i disconnected from the game a lot and it lagged when it loaded new parts of the world when i was walking or riding my horse around when i went to a new area iy the area all black and shadowy

You should probably check your internet connection then. It shouldn't take that long, so either your connection is sub-par or you don't have enough storage (which also sucks).
